Solar Image Sunday 22/1/17

So here is my little effort from yesterday. Finally seeing some activity on the sun! Details are:

Scope: Lunt 60mm L60THA double stack
Mount: Orion Atlas AZEQ G
Camera: Atik GP
Total 1000 frames captured with Atik GP Acquire
Aligned, stacked best 800 frames and wavelet sharpening in Registax 6
Cropped, lightly sharpened and a bit of Gaussian blur, blended yellow and red photo filters in PS CC 2017
Overall pretty happy with result. Biggest thrill with this one was I posted it on Facebook yesterday and one of the responses I received was from Alice Bowman who called it "awesome". I am sure she was just being polite! For those not aware, Alice was (or is) the Mission Operations Manager for the New Horizons probe, so she takes photos of Pluto and liked my shot.

Anyway, for a first tryout of the GP camera at solar, it worked OK. Also first attempt at blending colour filters.

Hi Malcolm,

Great image. Can you let me know how you got such good focus? I tried and couldn't seem to get my image in sharp focus. I'm using a Skywatcher Black Diamond ED80 with a ZWO ASI290.MC
