FSQ106 - Flex in focuser

Has anyone done any maintenance on the stock Tak focuser?

I have had quite a few issues using the STL11000 with the stock focuser. The Robofocus was not up to the task and would refuse to lift the camera on most occasions. I've ordered a Bellepheron which should be here any year now - its been ready to ship almost for weeks now.

Anyway, taking some images and manually focusing, I had a look at CCDIP - there is some serious tilt involved. Rotating the CAA, its clear that the tilt is a result of flex in the focuser drawtube.

I came across this article

http://www.astrodon.com/custom/_2e2a...20FSQ-106N.pdf

which looks a bit full-on.

Has anyone else found they needed to resort to this?

Pete

I rack my focuser all the way in and use an Atlas for focusing. One day I'll get around to replacing the Tak focuser with a Precise Parts adapter.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick

I'm not sure if the Bellerophon does the same. If it does, that solves the issue

If not, then I will need to address the sag still.

I don't have an issue with 106ed with a stl11k. I can rotate the field of view with no issues.

I use a fli PDF for focusing and I have a 3 inch rotator In there as well. I did try using a robofocus, but I much prefer the PDF.
