Delta aquarids fireball 31/7/2010

HI All,

Did anyone see the fireball this past saturday?

Facing north up about 50 degrees at around 11:15pm Saturday 31/7
It was slow and broke up in the atmosphere with the bright ball followed by a trail of orange/red debris and a smoke trail that lasted several seconds?

Tell me someone saw it and hopefully photographed it

Any other great activity of delta aquarids? Im looking foward to next weekend, no moon....

Steve, that would have been an awesome site to have seen. I'm afraid I didn't see it, but like you, I would be interested to know of those who did.

Thank you for the reply

It was awesome

1 first time for me as well, ive seen plenty of fireballs but never been looking straight at where 1 starts, the beginning to the end defiantly rare in this lifetime. I shall try again this weekend, ending and beginning of various showers, no moon, the country sky....

That would have been a great sight, I have seen a few firballs etc... the best one I remember is an earth grazer during the 1999 Leonids, hugging the horizon, lasted ages.

i saw a massive fireball in the southen sky (crossing through/near crux down into Vela) on monday (2/08/10) lasted about 3 seconds (before it droped below horizon at about 9-9:30pm) if i had to size it it was about six times the size of Acrux. very pretty.

re balls

Saw a good one in same direction as OP on 4-8-10,very bright and quick

at around 9.30 pm,might have been a bit lower in sky.

The astro guides say it will be a bumper year this year,_all we need is for clouds to go away!
