I use magnifiers & microscopes everyday in my work. A good set is important to avoid eyestrain. And being a bit crafty can be an advantage too.
I got this set from Ebay expressly for my astro sketching, but I can also use them with my work:

There's a few advantages to this set:
1, has a built-in light, just need to add batteries that are contained within the headset
2, headband and nosebridge supported
3, interchangeable magnifying lenses
4, can be used as headband or as normal ear-supported glasses - has interchangeable pieces
5, the lens can be not only lifted up out of the way, but its distance away from your eyes can be varied.
I also like this set as with a little bit of ingenuity it is possible to modify one of the lenses (in my case the lens set giving the highest magnification), by cutting out the lens holding fitting and coupling it to a normal set of glasses (such as a script pair). The supplied lenses are great for work that is small that needs to be done close to your eyes, but if a little distance viewing is needed their field of view is narrow because the lenses are beside each other. By fitting my own pair of glasses I was able to get a much wider field of view as the lenses are set further apart. I needed this for my astro sketching as I hold my sketch pad further away than close up work. The lens is held up out of the way without interfering when I look into the eyepiece, and with a flick quickly pulled down so I can sketch.

Yeah, yeah, the model is a bit rough, I know, I know...
Sheesh...
I bought these locally in Oz as I needed them in a hurry, and still inexpensive.
If you need to wear a pair of scripted glasses, then a set of clip on magnifiers may be another option. This set also has interchangeable magnifiers. Very effective too:

PS:
DO NOT GET A SET LIKE THESE:
These cannot be adjusted so that the individual loupes can be turned in so you can use both eyes at the same time, and the item you are working on needs to be held right up to an individual loupe, which even if the loupes could be pointed in, it is still impossible to get both eyes to focus on the workpiece. These are a waste of time, money and effort. Totally unsuitable for any practical application! They look good, but that's all. Absolute rubbish!!!
I got a set like these when I was looking for something "steampunkish" for a project. OMG! What a load of rubbish for ANY practical work application. For my Steampunk project, perfect, ONLY as a decoration!
