M8te from Astrofest (Lagoon Nebula)

Squeezed this one in for a couple of nights towards the end of astrofest. About 3.5hrs of HaLRGB. Probably would have rotated the field if wasn't already shooting other objects. Mostly 10min subs QHY9/FSQ.

Comments, fruit or thrown bottles always welcome.

Looks alright Rob. Star colours pretty good overall. You can see the blue stars in the dark field at the top of the image and the golden fields at the bottom.

Thanks Paul. Getting a better feel for the min amount of data to pull off the brighter DSOs with this rig finally, and wouldn't want to go much below this many hours now with 10min subs.

Thanks Troy. Bit of blue halo on the brighter stars in hindsight, but didn't stop me sleeping last night

Cheers Geoff. Just nice to have endless clear dark skies to choose from for a change.

Well no, telltale decon or wavelette artifacts that I can see ... soooo no bottles from me

It's a rather pleasing looking Lagoon Rob and in that orientation I always see Homer Simpsons (or Bart's) profile (looking to the right) DOH!

Thanks Rick - pretty happy in the end. Haven't done this one seriously since 2010 with the Newt now I think about it, and never this wider field.

Ah, there's an artistic side as well as a scientific side to your imaging then Mike! Not enough data for deconv or wavelet magic. Just a bit of masking and saturation and contrast work from memory.
