I have been tearing out my remaining hair trying to get remote control of my CGX mount using the recently released Celestron PWI PC based app which provides Point Modelling, and full laptop control (no hand controller required any longer for any reason). The problem with this software is that while it reports its activity and position, tracking, etc to integrating applications like SGP, it does not accept commands from another app. Thus there can be no mount movements initiated by an integration app. This seems to be entirely due to the ASCOM driver not having permitted remote spewing, etc.
My question to you is: Outside of the SkyX ASCOM 2X Mount Adaptor Software, which can interface most mounts, and control them with full permissions, is there any other choice for replacing the Celestron ASCOM driver?
I would happily adopt SkyX but it costs $329 USD to get the version that supports the Mount Adaptor Software ( which has been confirmed to work with the Celestron PWI free software by two SkyX users).
Any choices?
