large meteore last night

Hi all,
Last night at around 8pm I was out looking at Venus when I saw a large object moving through the sky from south to north, it looked like a very big shooting star, looking at it through my binoculars was amazing. I have no idea what it was, on the radio this morning they are saying that they think it was a very large meteor! I am now super excited that I was lucky enough to see it through my binoculars. Did anyone else see this? Anyone have any more info on what it was exactly?
Thanks
Dan

They are saying that it was definetly a meteorite, it was sighted as far north as Bundaberg.

How long did the "Meteor" last? Usually they only last a few seconds at the most. ISS was Passing close to Venus on the 27th around 8pm.. Not saying this is what you saw, but just worth mentioning that there was a pass.

Be a Meteor, not a Meteorite. Unless it was found on the ground.

Meteor 2Dec13

I saw one last night (2Dec13 about 8-30) whilst observing Venus with the bino's and it came in low from the East heading West, twice the size of Venus and I could see flames coming off it!!!
Amazing ( no supersonic bang though which I expected)

Regards
Bill

Perhaps it was this one.
I was taking photos of the LMC when this meteor shot past.
It was very bright.
Photo is cropped version.
