The Australian

Just a heads up.

The Australian Newspaper's "Heart of the Nation" which appears in their weekend edition colour magazine, will be featuring in their July 1st edition, the April total solar eclipse in Exmouth W.A.

Humm... I'm guessing stumping up the hardcopy issue price of $2.80 is out of the question.

No, I just disagree with the political/ideological slant of the paper and refuse to buy it.

Whatever floats 'yer boat.

To be fair, their "Heart of the Nation" magazine feature has showcased some excellent photojournalism over the years...with no political agenda....just "feel good" stories. Even Rupert can play nice occasionally

For those who wondered what all the fuss is about,
here is a link

FYI those precious souls who have a problem with NewsCorp should definitely NOT click on the link

Congrats on the article Peter, and also on such a fine image of the Eclipse. Well worth the 11000km trek. 650 images in 58 seconds must have inconvenienced a lot of electrons!

I agree with your sentiments about the "Heart of the Nation" feature - something I usually have a look at each Saturday morning over breakfast.

Thanks Dave. I spoke with with Ross Bilton (who wrote the piece) for nearly an hour. He is a really delightful fellow and anything but a NewsCrop henchman. He seemed fascinated by the trip and did a excellent job summarising it.

FYI I'm currently working on a Keynote talk about the eclipse which I'll be giving after the David Malin awards dinner....many more images (some of which make what was published look also rans) will be in the talk. Phil Hart will also be giving a talk as part of the Astrofest....his preparations were next level hence I'm keen to see his results at the conference.
