Gladiators... and the Solar System

I went to the Queensland Museum today to see the Gladiators exhibition, which is running until January 2018:
http://www.gladiators.qm.qld.gov.au
It's a very good exhibition for anyone with even a passing interest in ancient history - well worth the $18 ticket price.

But...

While we were wandering around waiting for our time-slot to commence, I was absolutely blown away by another (free) current exhibit called "Michael Benson’s Otherworlds: Visions of our Solar System" http://www.qm.qld.gov.au/Events+and+...s#.WY_zuSiubMI which also runs until January. It's a collection of 50 or so photographs of the various planets and moons, many of which I have certainly seen before, but never blown up to two metres on hi-res art-quality images - simply stunning!

Even my partner (who has never shown any real interest in astronomy beyond a quick glimpse at Jupiter or Saturn when I have the telescope out) was keen to go back after we saw the Gladiators exhibition, to take in the most impressive images again.

For all Brisbaneites, or anyone passing through in the next few months, get along to the Museum at South Bank to check out both exhibitions - you won't be disappointed!

I would enjoy both.

Why we still don't have gladiators I really can not understand.
No doubt we would need to take the life and death aspect away but even so what magnificent spectacle and opportunity for grand costuming.

I must look on utube as I can not imagine that it does not go on these days.
