eq mount

Can anyone tell me what the difference between eq1 and eq2 mount.

An EQ1 is a small, very light weight mount. It's ok for a small scope - I have a 4" SCT it works nicely for and my PST goes ok on it too. The EQ2 is just a little bit beefier so it can take a little more weight.

Thanks Paul and Jaquie, it already has a 114mm Newt on it but I was wanting to add a RA drive so need to know which one to get. Unfortunately I jumped the gun and got the drive for EQ2 and discovered I have EQ1.

good luck with the drive - andrews commc have them cheap at the moment for 29 I think - i tried one on an eq1 to just put my camera on it - but where the box wwas screwed on it slightly interfered with the poition you could orient the mount

Oh no! There's a big difference between the two motors for those mounts! Hope you get what you need without too much hassle.

Spoke to Steve massey at my astro shop he said he can swap for right one. I recommend them, steve has been very helpful and understanding of a newbie. Thanks for the comments people you also have been helpful.
