Mount went phhhhtt

I have a NEQ6 mount. When I plugged into the power and turned the mount on it went phhhtt. I checked the fuse in the cable, it was blown so replaced today. The mount still will not light up. The sound definitly came from the mount.
Question : is there a fuse inside the mount, or is there anybody out there that can help

cheers

Hmmm
There's no fuse within the mount...
Sounds like the main board has gone......

Merlin, was hoping you were not going to say that.
Are the boards easy to buy and replace

don't panic just yet. Mine developed a loose power socket (the solder failed where it attached to the board and the socket ended up in bits). It was initially intermittent and then shorted the PS. It would be worth having a look at that part of the board - it isn't hard to repair if that is the problem.

Otherwise, Ken is right - there is no protection at all.

IF you cannot get the MCB here in Australia, you can get it ex-Germany (the price drops 19% if you are outside Germany/EU). Add 50 Euro on average for postage though (OUCH!)

Talked to Bintel today and have sent the mount to them to get fixed. Sounds like it is not uncommon.
Cheers for the replies

Call Rob @ Tasco service in Sydney. He's very helpful. Rob has sorted out minor EQ6 niggles for me a few times. Tasco distributes Skywatcher in Australia.

Rob replaced a board for me once gratis. Good guy.

These are SO simple to replace, is it really worth the not small expense shipping it from Perth to Sydney/Melbourne then back again, not to mention the work cost and part cost?

If it is still under warranty, talk to Rob McIntyre at Tasco.
