M42 Duo Band

Got some more data on this one last Tuesday night. The moon wasn't too far but it's bright enough. Same night I did Eta Carina so seeing was good. When the moon subsides I'll get back into it and get more data as the periphery of the fov is still noisy.

So all up it's:
10x600s - 20/01/2021

32x300s - 16/01/2021
40x60s
31x30s

Same rig. FSQ106N with QHY9 (Nebulosity 4) on G11/Lodestar/PHD adn ZWO Duo Band filter (Oiii 35nm /Ha 12nm)

Full res 1:1 [3456x2496 - 4MB]
HD [1920x1387 - 1.25MB]

Enjoy the views.

Bit of fun adding RGB color to the duo band mono luminance shot. Technically the duo band is 34nm Oiii and 12nm Ha emission lines. I don't have any Ha/Oiii channels but had some RGB from previous years with colors that overlap the duo band spectrum.

I have posted both mono and colours along with the filter specs so you know what I did. The Oiii overlaps and clips the transition from blue to green so the brown still makes it through and the Ha is a subset of the red.

Full res fields are Here: Mono - Color

Thats great Marcus, the narrow band does give it a different look, To my eye there seems to be more separation in the dusty regions

Thanks Peter. Yes probably the missing bits increases the separation.

Yeah I have to admit it''s good to see a little color even if it's not color fidelity, it's close enough for me. So looking forward to go to Wiruna again.

I threw out 2 nights of the dolphin - couldn't see any nebula in the single subs. Must have been bad seeing or a thin layer of cloud. And I had to get a lot before it became halfway respectively.

Yes I'll have to do that one from a dark site.

Thanks Adam. Hoping to put more hours on the lum tonight to smooth it out if weather permits.
