ISS and Jupiter from Brisbane this morning

Hi all,

Took this shot of the ISS passing "near" Jupiter this morning at 6 am today. Taken with a Pentax K100D and 18-50mm lens @ 50mm, f/8, 15 sec exposure at 400 iso. It's my first decent image of the ISS, so I thought I might as well post it. Hope you like it.

Cheers, Stephen

Very nice Stephen,

Its a pity that Venus wasnt on the other side of the ISS streak, you would have had a nice little % percentage sign there!

Cheers

Chris

Nice shot!

I was watching it this morning as well, though I was hand tracking it through my dob with the camera attached. Went through the data later to find that the focus had been slightly off.

Sure was a pretty sight next to Jupiter though.

Thanks guys.

I'm looking forward to next Monday's pass (just after 6 pm). Should be an opportunity to image the ISS with Mars, Saturn and Regulus!

Cheers,
Stephen

Great shot.

I remember a few years ago, it's the best when you see the shuttle and ISS undocked and they flew over just after a few hours from undocking.

2 little lights screaming over the sky.

That was the shot.

I got to see that on June 12th this year - I didn't realize the Space shuttle had undocked earlier that morning until about 5 minutes before I went out, so the excitement was still fresh

I called my mom and told her it was "the coolest thing I'd ever seen"

The sad thing is that i don't think a long-exposure picture would work well because the lines might merge into one and lose the whole effect!
