Hi Bantertoo.

Best places are:
1) ebay
2) telescopes-astronomy.com.au

Get the 900nc, rather than the Pro. It's the newest, best version.

On ebay, you won't get the 1.25" adapter with it - so you'll need to pick one of those up from moggadapters.com or telescopes-astronomy.com.au.

You'll also need an IR-blocking filter which screws into the adapter.

Keep asking questions, and welcome to IceInSpace!

You mean one of these http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalo...oducts_id=3284.

I bought mine from JPL really good and quick service. Price seems about right from what I read at the time. Also don't forget you will need an adaptor from Mogg Adaptors at www.webcaddy.com.au and the adaptor you are after is this one, W900NC-M. You will also find the service really friendly and efficient.

And finally you might want to read http://www.robertreeves.com/900NC.htm this article on the removal of the webcam lens. It's a very simple process, but worth the read so you know exactly what you are up to.

Good luck and clear skies.

I have looked for the Philips ToUCam (900nc) at several stores so far with no luck.

MSY in Adelaide said the item is discontinued and and will be removed from their price lists. A search on www.staticice.com.au shows only one other store, and they're out of stock too. There is one on eBay in Europe but the postage is expensive.

Will other webcams fit the adapter? I've noticed my ultra cheapo Quickcam that I bought a few months ago has a a very similar looking setup to the 900nc.

When I get my mail order adapter I'll try it out on the Quickcam. The 900nc webcam is no longer available so we'll need to find a compatible alternative. Lots of adapters still on the market...

I've noticed a company that advertises on astromart has unmodded 900nc's with adaptors for $119US, I think it is cnc supplies or something similar..I have no idea what their freight etc is

Maybe an option if you get desparate...

JPL Displays Online responded to my email saying the 900nc is an old model and a new model is due late next month. Hopefully it's compatible with the existing adapters.

I'd still like to buy the existing model. MSY in South Australia is out of stock. Pity MSY (Vic) don't do mail order

MSY in QLD Morningside has been known to do mail orders, at least they did 12 months or so ago when I built my last PC, they may however turn up their nose at a order for a single cam
