Omega Centauri

Hi everyone,

An image of Omega Centauri taken in my backyard last night.

20 x 40 sec exposures + darks + biases
NEQ6 Pro
BT200 f/4
Nikon D3100
Televue Paracorr Type 2
Astronomik UHC Filter

You've raised the contrast and 'clipped' the greys out making the sky black so that the stars stand out more.
The sky isn't really black.
My avatar is omega c and it has a softer look but more stars because it isn't so drastically manipulated.
This is the pic it came from.
It's not a very good pic because it was taken on a wobbly wedge on a skinny pier.

Yeah clipped when processing is when you've dragged the black level slider over the leading edge of the histogram (assuming black is left, white is right) and what that does is sets the values of all those pixels to the left of the slider to the same value. Hence it "clips" the contrast.
