Widefield Carina Nebula

Yeah I know, another Carina Nebula shot... But this is my first real go at Carina.

We've finally got some good weather in Sydney, after what has seemed like weeks of rain and cloud. Took advantage of the clear night last night to try some imaging... however with my balcony facing the Easter Show and the just past Full Moon rising I've had to contend with a bit of light pollution.

Considering this, I'm pretty happy with the result. Taken using my Canon 6D and 70-200mm f/4L IS lens. At 200mm and f/8. 206 x 30 second exposures at ISO1000. Darks and Bias frames applied.

Higher res version here

Feedback appreciated and thanks for looking.

Cheers,

Jason

Nice wide field, Jason
Wouldn’t heart if you had longer exposures, @30sec you have some noise ..
Another thing is “greenish” stars ..

Very nice image,
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback DrWho.

I'll try for longer exposures next time and maybe lower the ISO. I didn't notice the greenish stars but thanks for picking it up, I'll have a look and try a repro. I remember seeing a tutorial on youtube about green stars appearing as a by product of processing, I just can't find it now though, if anyone knows the video or process for this can you please share?

Thanks,

Jason
