Mars from Melbourne Mar 19

Well despite the typical variable seeing from Melbourne, persevered this morning before the cloud moved in, and was able to capture some nice detail particularly some really nice cloud features over, and east of, Thrasis.

Olympus Mons in right on the meridian and the NPC is really showing a nice gap on it's southern edge.

Hope others got out there and it's also looking good for tonight as the high moved over SE Australia.

Great shots as usual.

But would you stop taking all the Martian photons - there'll be none left for the rest of us.

Well done John, the NPC area is very interesting. I got up 3am to find 99% cloud cover. By tonight the high pressure system will be to the east of us, so I doubt that the seeing will be good.

Great capture John. I got up at 2:20 and it was already cloudy. I hope Stefan is wrong for tonight

I could see the clouds on the radar so decided early was the best strategy - so my images were captured at 2:25am - by 3:00am Brunswick had clouded over - possibly the only advantage living north of the CBD when the clouds are coming from the S/SE/SW!

Tonight might be good but early once again before the high moves away too far - lets see - Skippy Astronomy Weather is predicting 8/10.

That's very well done John!
Like Stefan & Bratislav I got up at 230 also to find a 80%+ cloudy sky.
Tried again at 330 & it was worse..
Fingers crossed for tonight.

Seeing looks fair from your image, cloud detail is very good. Been cloudy and windy in Bris despite forecasts, it just wont let up.

Nice John, I was imaging earlier and the seeing was better for me around 1145pm SA time. It degraded around 1am onwards.
