Ngc 2516

A quickie of NGC 2516 in Carina before the southerly front hit.

60mins of RGB. Seeing was a bit dodgy.

Exquisite.

I should like to see more open clusters here, especially ones like this with a good smattering of red giants. A great target for your field of view.

A beautiful rendition Dave. I agree with MnT, clusters like this are made to be imaged.

Very nice open cluster Dave
I do keep wanting to do them at some point but just keep getting distracted by the bigger nebula stuff

Thanks for the comments guys.

Yes, I rather like the clusters with the red giants.

A little extra saturation with a mask applied helps.

My first image from sitting in the lounge via Team Viewer out to the observatory with a glass of red :-). I just have to get the dome automated which is a work in progress.

Cheers

Nice work Dave, a very attractive cluster. Agree with the sentiments above, these don't get imaged as often as they deserve!
