If you can hang on for a couple of weeks Dave, Tony will have a 20Da for sale cheap
I guess I'm biased and have always had canons and have never had any problems with them and they take a fine photo. 3meg to an A4 will end up grainy but if your printing them out of a bubble jet then thats not going to matter too much.
Is the camera for afocal astronomy or for just general point and shoot stuff with a bit of afocal on the side?
Yes it is Grant. Latest release from Canon, just to make us astro happy snappers even happier. If you can afford it And if you can get hold of one. Apparently not being released here in Aus at this point. Japan and US only
$3300!! ****** hell. Today we bought a 20D (body only) for $2100. From what I remember, the 20DA wasn't very special. Different IR filter and different firmware to allow fairly precise LCD focusing.

Correct again Mig....not that different but the most important thing is the IR filter modification...and better noise reduction...and the live view for easier focusing real time.
But your right its a lot more to pay for those extra's.
Mind due Hutech charge over $600 USD just to mod all the canon DSLR..so when you put it into that perspective I would much prefer to go with the canon made product with the extra's such as the 20DA.
Sorry Dave off topic a bit......good value camera you have picked with the Fuji.
Thats the s5000 is it? How have you found it so far Dave?
I am thinking of buying the s5600 so would be interested to hear any comments on the s5000 or the s5600.
