Finished darks for M42 just after midnight and then decided to capture NGC 5139 Omega Centauri the largest globular cluster in our southern skies.
An 80% waning moon was already up at around 40 degrees which lit the whole backyard up like daylight , so I rigged up a small tarp to minimise moon glare into the end of the OTA
The new EQ6-R mount performed so well
Finished imaging and packed up around 3.00am

Thanks
My little 6” newt with it’s slightly over sampled image scale resolves these globs really well, tight stars right down to the core. Of course your focus has to spot on too so I spend a fair bit of time getting focus as tight as possible
Startools also does a superb job at processing globs
Thanks again
Cheers

Very kind comment, appreciate it
I’m going to image Omega again soon without the moon around plus another hour or so of data.I reckon I can sharpen up the core even further plus expose more of the outer star field. That big o’l moons a menace sometimes
Thanks again
Martin
Thanks LIS
Comment much appreciated
My little 6” f6 newt does a great job resolving globs ( no matter how big or small )and Startools does a tremendous job in processing them
I really enjoy imaging these objects even though they are less popular than Nebula and galaxies
Cheers
Steve
Thanks for the kind comment
It’s an awesome object to both image and observe
I’m waiting for this persistent cloudy weather to leave the east coast of southern NSW so I can drag my 12” dob out and observe under some nice dark skies here
Cheers
