What's some Advice for an Observatory?

Hello:

I'm David Williams. And it's not like I'm exactly living from paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes we have about $200 to save from each month.

And now I've got roughly the money for the concrete base of the observatory I'm planning on building in our backyard (live with my parents in Michigan) which is $800. I'm having it done by a local contractor (10X10 feet). I'm leaving a hole of about 2 feet diameter in the middle in case I want and can afford a pier in the future. I believe my Meade tripod can straddle that in the mean time. And I'm planning for a SkyShed Pod (8 foot). Wondered if that would all be acceptable? Like I've heard that the pod's don't allow for looking straight up at the zenith (because of their design.) I supposed that if that was true I could move the dome (Pod) a little since I've go that much concrete floor and then it would take care of that?

My concrete floor I'm planning on is supposed to be 10'X10'X4". And it's to be reinforced with grid wire. It's also going to be on part of a tilled (in the past) field that we allowed the local farmer to plant on.) So it probably needs to be really stamped down well (they said they'd do it all).

What are any comments?
Thanks
David
