The day before Mike (Iceman), Rod (Rodstar) and I tried to get some shots but the clouds kept interfering and all I got was part of the tail.

On Christmas morning I headed out again and the conditions were better but there was still low clouds to contend with along with headlights from passing and parked cars around the Skillion.

Here's a few shots of the very memorable Christmas Comet.

Hope everyone has a Very Happy New Year.

That first image is stunning Andrew! i didn't get to see the comet until the 27th, so missed the brightest stage. It was still a spectacular sight though!

Cheers,
Stephen

Many thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed them.
I was certainly lucky to have the opportunity to go out Christmas morning.

Geoffro, life's a bit too busy for me atm but I certainly hope to catch up with everyone soon.

Cheers

With literally hundreds if not a thousand+ images of Comet Lovejoy to choose from, it was really difficult to choose one for an IOTW. And there were many many images that I loved and could've chosen; but I kept coming back to this one - the colours are stunning, it was taken at a time when the tail was nice and bright, and it was taken on xmas day. Terry really delivered us a gift that kept on giving

This image is now IOTW.

Mark is now searching birth notices for NZ about that date... Hungry to start a religious cult... But Very Good Photo's regardless.. Excellent.

Great shots RB and congrats on IOTW.

Using a DSLR to capture this comet was more tricky than I realised.
