LX200 pointing issues

Hi All

It's been a long while since I had the lx200 out - but I thought I would give it a go. Its lovely optics but it cant find a thing and it giving wrong info..

I've set it to Sydney, australia
set +10 GPS
set yes DLS
set the right time 21:12 and correct date 01-apr-2024

and it won't find M42 - says it rises at 0740
it will slew to Antares - which of course isn't up.

The only thing I can think of that might be causing this is a software setting that's leftover somewhere from the old PC connection over riding the inputs I have updated. (an obvious bug if I'm right)

Is there anyway of checking any of these settings without attaching it to the old PC which I no longer have..

thanks
Karen

ps not April fools joke though it feels like it

Are you double sure you changed the year to 2024?
I thought I did but hadn't and nothing worked from using 2023 in January this year with a synscan controller.
Otherwise I'd check for any updates for the controller in case it's buggy.

Hi Karen

If it really has been a long while, you could have a GPS rollover issue.

Try entering the date, time etc and start up as you did before.

Then, go back in and check what the current date and time are. I will guess these have now changed.

Also, check what version of firmware you have.

If the date did change on you, then I am fairly confident you have the rollover issue.

This site is the one I used to fix this issue on an LX90.

Good luck

Philip

I had a similar issue a while back and found out that the scope thought it was in Irvine in the US. I did a factory reset and then entered the coordinates for Sydney/ Canberra. This fixed the problem with a wrong slew. Even though it was not super accurate it got within the target area.

UPDATE: LX200 Pointing issues

UPDATE:

It was definitely a GPS rollover issue.

STARPATCH to the rescue. (thanks Philip) I assimilated your advice and the LX200 assimilated the patch. NOW perfect pointing.

thanks again
