Wishing I was outside looking at the clear sky above Melbourne. But listening to Time Team Episodes on YouTube whilst writing reports for school.

Many and various. And Tinnitus, which is a bugger. The best part of a decade working in a noisy environment (RAAF RADAR equipment halls) plus the last 15 years driving to and from work (Up to three hours a day) is catching up with me!
You would think that driving to work in a quiet car would be OK, but then when you add it up, 70% of my trip is at highway speeds and even a quiet car is probably near 90db which adds up to around 6000 hours or more of significant exposure!

I haven't read the entire thread but surely this has been mentioned by someone before...
I love looking at the moon thru the scope under low then high power with The Police " Walking on the Moon" on repeat thru Bluetooth stereo head phones. Under high power I imagine I'm skimming thr surface in my own LM...so serene.

Moonchild, all of side B really. (King Crimson).
Today: the "Where have I known you before" album by Return to Forever, featuring a young Chick Corea. Vulcan Worlds and Song to the Pharoh Kings. Takes me back to working night shifts in Alberta, Canada in the 1970s.
All on vinyl of course. I have The Pat Methany Group on dvd in the car.

Bowie's last album "Blackstar" (love it), David Lynch's "The Air is on Fire" (bought this post his exhibition and chats here in Brisbane a few years ago - a dark, brooding soundscape) and, at the instance of my 6 year old daughter, the Moana soundtrack (saw the movie a few days ago). Listening mostly in the car on trips to Moogerah.

Great songs Paul. All deep and meaningful.. "On the Turning Away" in particular is profound. And aren't many of us "Comfortably Numb"?
For me right now after a hard day doing what I do "Rocket Man" by Elton John. Sometimes I really feel I'm ..."burning up my fuel out here alone..."

In the process just now of rehabilitating a cockatiel who has had his beak ripped of by another bird. He's doing really well with lots of help from us and our incredible vet. So today's song for him and the rest of all the misfits here at our place is Billy Idol "Eyes without a Face".

I just spent the weekend at the Illawarra Folk Festival and feel thoroughly recharged. It's amazing how much talent is out there and how wide ranging 'folk' is these days.
My 'band of the festival' goes to The Northern Folk from Albury with Sissybones (Brisbane) and The London Klezmer Quartet as runners up. As it happened TNF were the first and last act I saw. I arrived on Sat a bit tired and grumpy after enduring the stinking hot night before but they picked me up and got me smiling. Then, on the Sunday afternoon when my energy was waning, they actually had me up and dancing - something that rarely ever happens when I'm sober. The average age of the band is 22, so I hope they have a bright future.
My bravery award, though, goes to Harman and Hellens, a five piece straight ahead bluegrass band, who were playing in an old stable, under a tin roof, when the heavens opened on Sunday morning. Very quickly, the band couldn't hear each other (they play without foldback) and then the audience could hardly hear the band. The musicians had to move closer to hear each other. They played 'Cold Sheets of Rain' when it started but then had to play their most foot-stompin numbers.
The festival is very well run with a friendly atmosphere. There are 11 stages plus a kids venue, so there is always too much to chose from; the biggest disappointment is always the acts you miss. That's why I go every back year!

I have taken a bit of a liking to these guys (Walk Off The Earth)
They do "Unusual" covers but there is some real talent through the group.

Over the last week or so I've been listening to Tangerine Dream from the '70s and '80s - Phaedra, Tangram, Ricochet, etc.
