Wowee, that takes me back. Can remember giving Mental Vortex a work out back in the day too. '88-92 was my golden era for music

Just been listening to some Rammstein - Mutter

Seeing as we're doing the Coroner thing, I'll whack 'Punishment For Decadence' on before bed time!

I bought an old turntable last week and have dragged out a lot of vinyl from storage, mostly early
80's metal and punk (proper punk, not what has passed for punk in the last two decades!)

If you've never heard of Kratos, a 1982 private pressing 4 track EP by three young guys (still at school)
in the US, do yourself a favour. It's called 'Iron Beast'. Not sure if it's out there in the ether somewhere....

Cheers,
Jason.

Onya, Jason!

I will have a look for your recommendation tomorrow.

I've done my Coroner discography listening for tonight and it's time to sleep.

Oh yes, the new Daft Punk is gorgeous. Contact really tied the whole thing together. I hope there is another Electrorama or Interstellar 5555 movie on the cards.

Also this, not Daft Punk though.

Pity I made a typo, it should be "Random Access Memories"

Been listening to it all day, along with some of their older stuff and the Tron soundtrack

Favourite driving music ATM is:
Morning of the Earth - 70's surfie music - has a fantastic song "Dreamchant" by NZ band Ticket, great bass playing but really just one note for most of the song!

TCB - James Rayne doing Elvis covers really, really well. Little Egypt is a standout.

Wow, you lucky so-and-so!

From memory, they're still touring.

I've been listening to them while working. It's great thinking music.

I just can't stop listening to 4 songs (the only 4 in existence as far as I can tell) by "Mr Little Jeans" at the moment. On repeat.

I have mixed in the repeat some usual favorites from Chicane, Grimes and Sarah Blasko, for variety.

Summoning's new album (number 7), 7 years in the making.

The only way to describe this Austrian duo (Protector and Silenius) is spellbindingly epic.

Their music is based on and inspired by the writings of Tolkien. At least one of their tracks (Mirdautus Vras) has been performed in the dark language of Mordor.

While I'm still warming to the new album, here's a little bit of magic:

The Wandering Fire (Old Morning's Dawn, 2013).

And, some classic Summoning:

Land of the Dead (Oath Bound, 2006).

Arguably the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Protector's screech is phenomenal. And, that flute!

The bombastic, rhythmic and processional music would have fit well in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Where Hope and Daylight Die (Stronghold, 1999).

Utterly beautiful.

Music to listen to while coding or trudging through beautiful alpine forests.

I hope someone else "gets" the beauty.
