Fire in the sky

Taken just before sunrise near my home in Morpeth.

The sky literally looked like it was on fire. Pretty much SOOC except for a fiddle with the red hues. That DSLR camera filter that plays havoc with H-Alpha at night seems to get into the act with sunrise/sunset shots as well.

Nice shot Kev! Without the filter even more red would show up, but it starts to get out of balance I find.

Thanks all for the kind comments.

It's amazing how quickly it changes. A shot 2 mins before shows that brilliant band of red and yellow as drab grey, and a minute later it was gone.

We've had three clear nights in a month and they were after a day of 45°C and two of 47°C. You can imagine what the night sky was like, shimmering like a desert mirage.
