The Stars through some Binos... wheeeee...
I got some 10x50s for Fathers Day... fantastic. I was watching the moon last night. It was so damn cool. You can see the craters and everything. Can't quite wait until its full again. 
And Scorpius looks damn impressive, I say. A lot better than naked eye. Go to Hell, naked eyes.

Ah yes, was looking at the moon last night through my 8x12mm Tasco binocs, and even they were quite impressive on the moon. I'll certainly be getting some better binoculars in the near future, so i'll be sure to check it all out again then.

b4, The moon will look like a 'white dinner plate' when full. You won't pick out much detail. Best viewed from 1 day old onwards when the craters/valleys, etc etc are highlighted from the side. L.

On the contrary, at a dark sky site I just love to sit back,and enjoy the glorious naked eye view that I dont get from home.
Light polution sucks

100% with you on that Geoff, the couple of times i have been out with
John and Anna, i find it fantastic to view the sky with your eyes. I think seeing the sky that way helps me to find a few more things better than in the back.

Haha! You guys are in for some strife at the Star Camp! On a good night it is hard to differentiate Crux from all the other stars. There are just tooooo many up here. The other night when it was clear I had trouble finding Scorpio at first!!!
You are gonna love it!

Thanks, dudes. Up in the suburbs, the light pollution isn't abysmal, but darn do I prefer those binoculars to my weak human eyes. I can actually see the awesomeness of the sky with those things. It's sweet.

Yeah, they are a lot of fun!!!
Last weekend I finished the AL Binocular Messier program with my Orion UltraView 10x50's.
Most of the (northern) summer globs look pretty boring at 10X - but there are a few that were quite interesting: M22 and M13 of course, but M15 was suprisingly good!
My favorite area is to just sweep the area between Sgt, Sco, Oph, and Aql - that area is just so rich with Bino-Eye-Candy =-) M6 and NGC6231 have to be two of the most amazing Binocular objects visible from this side of the equator!
Congrats on your new present and I hope you have as much fun with yours as I do!
