Driver Genius

When my last lot of Windows updates came in I got this annoying shield
shaped icon keep coming up flashing at the bottom of the screen;
obviously warning me about some perceived problem. It is called Driver
Genius, and all it is doing is driving me to distraction. When I try to delete it in control panel the uninstall wizard says that there is no such programme installed, but it is there in the list of programmes. I have no
problem uninstalling other programmes except for a Brother printer I threw away, and can now not uninstall it's software.
Maybe it's a virus because usually when it flashes a dialogue box comes
up asking if DG can make changes to my comp.

Never heard of it, but it seems it has possibly been bundled inside the installer for another software package and installed without your knowledge.
From the site linked below: "It is advised to always read the Terms and Agreements before installing software on your computer. Never click too fast thru the installation process [Next] button of software as you will agree to software you might not want to install."

More info here: http://www.fixyourbrowser.com/how-to...-instructions/
If you're not confident with their fix, I suggest visiting a local PC store for help.

Have you checked for "Driver Genius" in "Add/Remove Programs" or "Programs" (depending on your Windows version) in the Control Panel?

It is supposed to be legitimate, but you don't know what crap was bundled with it.

Thank you all.It's rather strange. Windows Uninstaller was too expensive, so I uninstalled that, and then tried fix your browser which got rid of
Driver Genius immediately.The strange thing is that I installed fix your
browser, but after it got rid of DG and I then closed it, it disappeared from my comp.No sign in the programme list in control panel.
Still, the main thing is it's gone.
Thanks again
