Some awesome skies happening around this New Moon (again) sadly I can't take advantage of them all, yet, as I am not setup for remote operations...but I have always wanted to observe/image with a pristine transparent, dark, clear sky overhead and snow all around me ...alas, looking at the CCTV cameras last night and this morning, seems last night was the night! snow fell in the late afternoon then skies totally cleared up...was likely nudging -8C though (my weather station is not internet connected)...bah! that would'a made it even better! ...it'll happen, one day
A similar weather event happened back in Sept 21, before I had the observatory and the sky was utterly sensational, with SQM readings hitting 22.00, the Milky Way was mind blowingly wide and detailed.

Did I spy Eagleview in an advert in an older AS&T magazine. Looks like you've hit the big time, Mike.
(or is that old news?)
No, not sure what that was?...although, waaaaaay back in 2006 we sold our property, just outside Queanbeyan, complete with observatory and I did have an ad in AS&T for that..?
No, Eagleview was a pure luck of the draw jackpot, we had been looking for a rural property, within 100km's or so of Canberra, for 4 years and been to well over 100 open homes...this one came up in Feb 2021 and was like winning the lottery ...except it cost us a (small) lottery win to buy.. Heck, there were 40 groups at the first and only open home and in fact (not an auction) we along with six others, offered over the asking price but still we missed out to a higher offer, which was well over the asking price!..I was pretty bluudy disappointed ...BUT! luckily the totally improbable happened and they pulled out of the sale about 9 days later...couldn't believe our luck! I had been depressed for a week and just gotten over the whole thing...it was like a miracle ...meant to be as they say

Sigh...on site CCTV suggests yet another beautiful night gone begging....bloody work!
A cold one though, I'm sure!

I braved going up to the dome.
Temp in dome was 1.2
Battery charger had karked it. No power for the gear.
Shutters were already iced and stuck together. Alu ladder for manual opening was slick with ice.
Took my hot choccy and went back down to the house.
I didn't get your snow though, and I'd have liked to.

Crikey, a slip fest
Hot choccy, good idea..?..hmm?..there's an alternative to beer and whisky I had never thought of ....
Mike
kidding, I have been known to knock up the odd hot choccy....but beer (or whisky) is the usual
Hi Mike, I watched the Sideral stuff on youtube as well. God damn that's a great place. Beautiful location and amazing observatory. And I love your hospitality!! A credit to the hobby.
Graz in gale force, wet and windy Tas.

Hey cheers Graz If you are ever coming up this way for any reason, let me know and you can partake in some of it
Installed a new state of the art onsite security manager for Eagleview on the weekend, he's called "Termi"...nasty bugger also has some ground dwelling assitants
Spotted a cool small rocky outcrop on the drive home today, with the Tinderry Mountains in the background.
Aaaand, a picture of my fathers day lunch, just for Alex featuring Fresh prawns, Calamari and Orange Roughie in a creamy garlic, chilli, capers and dill sauce, all on a bed of coconut rice, topped with Lumpfish caviar
