Its Not Iceman Quality But I知 Thrilled

Good viewing and the DMK 21AU04 imager will record the goods! Jupiter is close to being directly overhead with a late moonrise, but the fine weather hasn稚 brought good atmospherics. Thin high cloud spoilt the evenings, 21st and 22nd. Last night I managed 5 captures between 6.35 to 7.10, the best as attached, after which it was impossible to focus with any accuracy.
For those who may have had similar problems with their finder scope - submitted a week ago - I知 pleased to report after following the focusing instructions, it was great to use. But I do agree with the member who criticized the thickness of the cross hairs. You can hide Jupiter behind them. Thanks Satchmo for your assistance.
The image with the moon shadow recorded Aug 22 and the image with the large spot Aug 23

Hey Dennis, from one Dennis to another – top stuff mate! Practice makes perfect and there is no east apprenticeship in planetary imaging, so good on you for having a go and producing these respectable results. You may have been hindered by the atmospheric conditions, it’s been pretty ordinary the last couple of weeks.

Cheers

Dennis

I think that any shot that can be recognised is a good one. The one with the GRS is my favorite of the two.

I'm with Wade on this, if you can recognise it it's good
So both images qualify, well done.

better than my first attempts ! I'd be happy as.. you've caught a moon shadow transit in one shot and the GRS in another... Great Work!

I missed this thread, sorry Dennis.

I have to say that is a mighty fine effort and as a bonus you have captured a moon shadow and the GRS.

Well done.

Yes, especially when you muck around with it and stuff up the cross hairs and replace them with the finest copper wire I could find in the shed

Either need a double crosshair (made from actual human hair helps) or how about this from my new finderscope:-

Nice shots Dennis, I would've been stocked to get shots like these when I started imaging Joop.
