DSLR Astro Mod

I have a few spare 1200Ds and I was thinking of getting one astro modified.

Does anyone know where and how much I can get this done for or if it's an easy enough mod to do yourself?

Do it yourself. If you search here and on the Net you will find plenty of guidance concerning the process. Good luck.

I sent my 60D overseas here...

...to be modified. It wasn't cheap, but they did a good job.
A word of Caution. If you're planning on doing this, the whole round trip process of sending the DSLR to it coming back took over two months.

Start by doing some reading on the website of the Canon DSKR modification king, Gary Honis:

I did my 450D following this site, as I have worked with microelectronics for a while, the process is not hard, unfortunately, it is hard for me to translate the ease to anyone without some skills.

Thanks all.

I managed to secure a cooled OSC so I will be selling off my second 1200D.

May consider modding the other one as I don't really use it for day time photography.

Thought there was an outfit in Oz - they advertise converted 6D's on ebay I think (sorry can't recall name).

They offered a conversion service too - anyone used these nameless people? LOL

I did a couple of Canon 5D's myself some time ago, quite an experience however it all worked out fine in the end.

I have had some extensive discussions with Wayne at Camera Clinic in Collingwood and he knows a lot about spectral mods.
I personally sent my Sony A7RII to Daniel Morrison in america be modified for broad spectral response and better thermals, but the camera seems to have kicked the bucket after 5 years so probably not the best example.

I have had two cameras modded by Peter tan in Hong Kong over the years…a 450 D and a 550 D.

( already linked above by someone else)

Still using the 550 D . The mod was years and years ago
