Large Magellanic Cloud

Thanks to Rick who suggested using artificial flats, as my original flats were nerfed by the bright morning light.

19 shots of 5 mins Ha (6nm filter) and 30 shots of 4 mins for RGB, processed and combined in PI and then tweaked via PS and Lightroom.

Somewhat non-traditional colours but a nice job, Simmo! I think Ray's "grand scale" comment captures it nicely.

I agree it is somewhat a unique view of the galaxy. Perhaps a little too orange for me but still gives an interesting view of the area.

Thanks Paul. I have to admit that at this stage of my learnings, I'm probably getting more confused re. colours than ever before. The more capable I get at changing base colours, the more possibilities of errors or going over the top I make!

Though I did do some basic colour calibration on this, indeed it's far better than my previous efforts.

Any suggestions? feel free to tweak if you want.

To reduce the orange you need to reduce the yellow in the image. Colour balance in photo shop will help you there. It's all very fine adjustments really. Enjoy the learning, its good.

Hi!

Also I find it a little yellow, but it is really nice for me to see pictures of this wonder, because in my hemisphere ... I can not see it! :-)

Hi Simon,
Nice picture.
I had a go at the colours & couldn't get anything perfect out of it.
Also the black areas around the Tarantula are too black - way down at 4 or 5 when sampled.
They can't be that dark.
I think it needs a re-process with more careful stretching &
a concentrated effort on colour.

cheers
Allan
