Have to agree there Lewis
I was sitting on the verandah with a coffee this morning where we are in the bush and the silence was wonderful.
Then about 30 cockatoo's landed in a Gum by the dam and started to sing their song.

Goodness, Sheena Easton "9 to 5" is playing. A rather pre-historic philosophy in the lyrics.

Of all things, today I was reminded of the Welsh national anthem, a magnificent and inspirational piece which outshines every anthem I have ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtCOprRDUm8
Cheers,

The Cocteau Twins this week - reliving my youth, also reminds me of the 'aria' in 'the fifth element' and that I should really get back into good opera

what are you listening too?
Bloody Hell -haven't heard the Cocteau twins for years. Saw them at Leics Uni and had a lot of vinyl from those days.
Currently am listening to Stornoway, Beachcomber's Windowsill and Terra Firma.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood live at Wembley (2004 I think). Most of the original band reunited for the concert. Original lead singer Holly Johnson declined to perform so they auditioned and selected a new front man, Ryan Molloy, who IMO does a better job than Johnson ever did. They performed Welcome to the Pleasuredome, Two Tribes and Relax. The performance really does credit to the band, the audio and visuals are superb.

Tres Hombres - ZZ Top - 1973
I love the Texas Blues riffs in Jesus Just Left Chicago and Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers.
And of course, La Grange and Waiting for the Bus.
This would have to be their best all round album (granted I haven't yest listened to their more recent stuff).
Hearing a younger Billy Gibbons, gives one an idea of just how long these guys have been in the game. They will be coming up on 50 years in 2019.
Second on rotation is Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Texas Flood" Album. A session demo that became an album, that won Double Trouble a Grammy!

^ Love ZZTop / La Grange, but they didn't do it recording justice at the time as the dynamics are compressed in the original studio, although better in a 2005 remaster i've heard. You should jump out of your skin (much more) when the drums first attack. I like this "live" version a little better in that respect.....

Winery dogs Unleashed in Japan DVD. Richie Kotzen, Billy Sheehan and Mike Portnoy, arguably the 3 best in the world. Exemplary performance.
It's on youtube for anyone interested I managed to get a copy of the DVD on Fleabay from Japan (I believe in paying for what media I collect).
