Do you have an UV/IR blocking filter? That's really the only filter you need with the ToUcam. It's not a must-have but it's fairly good to have and will help stop some bleeding between the colour channels.
The Powermate's are best because they'll bring the colour channels back into alignment the best. A cheap barlow may be ok, but if you can afford it, the televue powermate's are great.
Also, think about getting a 5x powermate to give you more image scale with your 8" newt.
Not actually sure yet Mike, if I proceed with the purchase of the 5" APO then will probably use that .. and no, don't have a UV/IR filter
