I have an Orion ED80 that I use with a WO P-Flat IV on occasion. I just started to do a bit of wide field here and here with it. Works quite well for a small aperture scope. Sharper than a lens IMHO for approx. the same image scale.

That's a nice image - the abscence of CA is quite pronounced.

Chromatic aberration - the colour fringes around bright objects.

I've been looking at filters - this is a good article but it's still hard to decide, because, its apples and oranges between manufacturers and types of the same filter.

I might ask on one of the more techy forums.

Ha ok. Yes. The Orion ED80 doesn't have any significant problems with colour fringing. Never had any issues. Although when doing narrowband or RGB the blue channel/Oiii is the one that suffers most from optical abberations at registration time. But it's something you can work around at stacking time.

Which filter do you predominantly use for astrophotography?

From home I use a lot of my Ha filter. On the field I do only RGB with no filters.
