Finally the weather, work, hockey coaching & world cup watching gods have been kind enough to release me and I've been able to use my new 6" GSO dob for the first time. So, to the verdict - two words only.

JUPITER - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I'm really hooked. I've already decided I need some extra eyepieces, and I really should make sure my finderscope is aligned more accurately, and I must get out the notebook I bought to record my observations in...
But frankly, I just can't get over that first view. It was great! Quokka.

Excellent! Our Jupiter probably was not as good as yours thanks to the Melbourne weather, but I had a great night too.

I could not edit above.. my point its dark and you are bound to find heaps of objects just by stumbling across them. The reason I love my dob is you can move it around so easily to explore, an eqatorial is way behind here, I am not saying dont target specific objects but dont overlook the fun of cruising and discovery. Clear skies.
