Have you tried smaller steps, say 25? How did it go?

Do you need smaller steps on the autofocus. You say it has a nice V shape. But shouldn't it be a U shape, or a parabola with a few points that are near the minimum value? I've had a good run with the new parabola fit using a newt - I have reasonably long exposures and do about 15 points on the autofocus
