How to keep dew/condensation off my camera lens

Hi All,

Does anyone have an ingenius idea of how to control the condensation/dew build up on my camera lens when piggybacked on my scope without the use of a dew heater?

Thanks,
Jake

There are wipes that are used to keep ski goggles fog free, these might be useful. They seem to be impregnated with some sort of chemical that inhibits fogging, but I don't know if they affect image quality, although I have used them for years when skiing and from a vision perspective they were fine.

Honestly, I think a dew strap is the way to go. Means you can set and forget, without having to worry about drying the lens mid way through the imaging run.

There was a IIS thread recently about a DIY low cost dew heater: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...&highlight=dew

I used to use a 12v hair dryer - available from all good camping stores.
Alternative solutions are chemical hand warmer sticks strapped around the lens.
But now I use a dew heater...
Cheers,
Andrew.

I use socks. Hardly had to use any heat. Only on very very wet nights. Make sure you don't let the lens body go cold and the glass will keep clear.

Our local IGA sells these packs for $2 or $3.
You only need one of the sachets to keep your lens warm. Use the knee wrap to hold it in place. You might have to cut a hole in the wrap to access your focus ring.

Or, you can buy a pair of heated USB gloves and remove the little heating pad and power it using a portable USB power supply.
