QSI IGport and SX Lodestar focus question
When trying to focus my lodestar with the internal guide port on the QSI 683, I ratcheted down the focus ring to it's most inferior position (lowest nearest the camera body) and still the lodestar still looks slightly out of focus.
I know I can guide on less than focused stars - but I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting better than this?
It seems to me that it just needs a little more -in focus travel.
As anyone used those acrylic discs for the SSAG with the lodestar?

Hi Graham,
I was thinking that the disk will not work. Mainly because it is supposed to extend the focal length by 1mm. I have used the disk on an SSAG before and they work a treat and you can achieve focus easily. What is the back focus distance of the lodestar? I would have thought it was the same as the SBIG ST-i which is 13.36mm. If you are 12mm-15mm then it should still focus. If it is outside of those parameters then it might be an issue. Best bet though is contact the Yahoo group for some help, or contact Kevin from QSI and ask him direct.

Just out of interest did you get the right adapter? There are two one for the lodestar and one for the SBIG ST i.

QSI + lodestar
The adaptor was the C mount - I ordered it from Bintel specifically for the Lodestar and QSI so I assume it would be correct.
I can post a picture later to verify if you want to compare.

I hate to ask but did you screw the C mount down too far? My 683 focuses the Lodestar before it gets to 'the bottom'.

lodestar
Nope, can get a picture but it's just not terribly sharp.
I have checked throughout the whole of the focus ring travel and this was the best position- mind you it was with a refactor in doors focused on an indoor item.
I will check more thorougly outdoors when can.
