Hi Norm, Slice of Heaven, (geoff), uses old cordless drill nicads,(7.2 v or 9.6 volts)? Others use 12 volt jump starter batteries. Depends on,(what's your main battery)?, I suppose.
The fans, on 12 volts, take about 170 mA, so are fairly savage on low/lower capacity batteries.
Still, you don't run the fan all night, do you?

Their actually 12v Laurie. From 1.3 to 2 amps. I had about a dozen laying around and put them to use on the dob to run the fan, Telrad and a couple of leds.

As Laurie said Norm, whatever you have will run them, maybe the jumpstarter pack would be the way to go if your going to buy something specifically for the job.

Ta Geoff. Wasn't sure about voltage.
Norm, you can always run a current/voltage regulator/PWM, as a speed controller. L.
