10-inch f/5 Dobsonian with Gondwana custom base with encoders & Nexus-2 DSC
I'm parting with my 10-inch Dobsonian due to pending relocation.
The OTA was originally bought from Bintel (BT252), and has some pretty decent GSO optics in my opinion. Collimation is very consistent between uses, only requiring tiny adjustments (my other Newtonians needed constant tweaking).
Alex from Gondwana Telescopes was commissioned to build a new base from marine plywood, and to fit encoders on both axes to allow me to use it as a push-to 'scope with digital setting circles. The custom base and encoders alone cost $650. Alex did a fantastic job as you can see from the photos, and it's way better than the standard "cardboard" mounts supplied with these scopes.
With the encoders and Nexus-2 DSC it is possible to view 20-30 galaxies per hour with breathtaking accuracy. This is very helpful in May and June when the Virgo galaxy cluster is at its best.
Nexus-2 connects the telescope to your smartphone via Wi-Fi to enable precision object location with great ease.
Includes a 50mm x8 right-angle RACI finderscope.
Includes 3 eyepieces: 30mm, 12.5mm and 4mm.
Due to the size of this beast, it's pick-up only from Roseville 2069 NSW
Price - two options are available:
$650 Telescope, eyepieces, encoders, arms & cables (no Nexus 2)
Or
$900 Telescope, eyepieces, encoders, arms & cables and
Nexus 2 Digital Setting Circles and USB Serial to Wi-Fi interface
