Travelling with Esprit Refractor

Hi Folks,
Re: Travelling in a vehicle with Astro gear (Attached image).

I was in BCF the other day and noticed an Esky which would easily fit my Esprit 100 and peripherals (basically all equipment that sits on the Losmandy dovetail) I could retract the focus (shortening the length) and lift off the scope from the mount and place it in the Esky (suitably padded). It would save so much time in the set-up and take-down process. It would also save travelling with multiple boxes (Scope, Camera, tube rings with attachments etc).

Is this a sensible idea or a risk to equipment? Has any one done this - would like to hear your thoughts and how you transport safely.

Thanks

Chris.

I used two separate cases for my Esprit, mainly because I don't have a whole lot of room in the boot if I bring a mount as well. I used these two cases from bunnings: 1 and 2, there's just enough room to squeeze an Eprit100 inside. My setup is a little more compact than yours though, I only use an oag so I can have the whole lot assembled and ready to go in about 2 mins.

The size is a bit different to the one you linked to but, the price is somewhat more attractive.. & it's by Pelican so, you know it's a quality item...

Foam lined & cutout to suit... maybe a better option perhaps...
