Looking at the cloudy rainy weather predicted for the long weekend here in Brisbane, it doesn't look like I'll be able make any use of my scope.
It was drizzling rain when I woke up this morning about 5am.

There is always online astro shopping, which can be dangerous to the bank balance. I have been browsing the Teleskop-services website this morning.

Yup, going to be a wet one here, apparently. We sure need it, summer was very lean on the rain front.

Yes, sorry but it is just me, perhaps my autism, I hate anything like that, fishing, game shooting, call me a hypocrite because I eat meat.

We had an interesting thread here some time back re fishing.
Some thought it was cruel some did not but none one sought testimony from a fish.

Many lessons were learnt that thread. As I understand it, since biblical times the fish themselves were divided.

Speaking of things Biblical and fish... As a kid I was accustomed to spending Easter watching one or two Cecil B deMille epics - usually Ten Commandments or Samson and Delilah... replete with a long list of the big movie stars from that era.
Yvonne de Carlo and Hedi Lamarr... sigh...
Or Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire in Band Wagon... she was easily the most superb dancer Hollywood ever had, and what a figure...
Seems the FTA channels have forgone that tradition.

You can still find those old movies on FTA occasionally, especially in non-rating periods around Christmas. White Christmas had some outstanding dance numbers with Danny Kaye and Vera Ellen (who would be my pick for the best dancers of the era.).
They also pop up on late night TV now and then. I wonder if nursing homes have a stock of these things on DVD.
There is a modern (2016) remake of Ben Hur appearing on Ch 9 tonight.

Nick I loved that movie, The Ten Commandments.
When I was a kid we never had meat on any Friday, and when out with my patents before we had a meal we would have to bless our self's in front of every one before eating, I nearly shrunk under the seat with embarrassment.
However we survived and i am still here.
