Is it possible?

I can't for the life of me work it out.

None of the system charts are any help, either.

I do have a Takahashi 2" adapter of some kind with two thumbscrews; this would require me to put the nosepiece back on the CCD (currently use a Feldstein #6 to mate the CCD to the scope).

Has anyone got this combination working?

If I could pull it off, I'd have an 848mm f/8 system.

I've sent Peter Tan an email with no reply (not unusual, he takes his time) and also just fired one off to Art from TNR hoping to hear something favourable.

My understanding is the reducers/extenders are not available for the older FSQs.

Hi Wayne,

There's no reducer for the N, but, the Extender-Q definitely exists and works. I think you need to get custom parts made for it to work with an STL/CCD, though.

I've bitten the bullet and sent Precise Parts an email.

Their Build-an-Adapter routine shows that it can be done, and, it costs $130 US.

Precise Parts are hard to beat. A bit expensive but their adapters always work, are well made and strong. I have a ton of them!

I don't mind spending the money. I was just hoping to get something locally first.

Claudio gave me the details of someone who he uses for custom parts. The issue is, I don't know the spacing or thread size details for any of the gear I own; I'm illiterate when it comes to things like that, so, I would likely have had to send my bits and pieces away to this gentleman to figure out. I don't want to do that; I wanted a ready made solution, or something that can be made by someone who knows what they're doing.

I've got ideas for other types of connectors I may require and if the Precise Parts adapter does the job, they'll get repeat business from me.

Their online create - a - part system is very good, but don't expect to them to provide measurements/data on back focus distances etc. He's very hands off and risk adverse there, as I found out, even when dealing with fairly common equipment (Tak)...

Thanks, guys! From memory, the DSLR and CCD came to focus at roughly the same distance.

If Ashley isn't able to provide the correct distances, I'll measure myself and use the online ordering system.
