Water droplets on rose leaves

Hi all,

It was humid and still enough to have some nice guttation fluid on the leaf teeth of our roses this morning, so I took a few macro images. Focus isn't perfect (they were hand-held shots), but I thought they were worth posting.

btw, if you're interested, this guttation fluid is the unused water taken up by the roots, which moves through the veins and ends up returning to the outside environment at the leaf teeth. All the nutrients from the soil have been removed by this stage. It's quite commonly seen early in the morning when the humidity is high.

Cheers,
Stephen

Very interesting Stephen, I always thought it was just dew on there.

Thanks for sharing those shots and info.
