where can you buy one of these in the Melbourne area
one guy who has been great helpng me sent me to a store where he got his
and the assistant did not have a clue was not my friends fault far from it he got me on the right track with every thing .....all I got was a homer simson blank look so need help please

Are you talking about EQMOD?

There are (at least) two types of USB to Serial cables -

For EQMOD you need USB to Serial TTL. This cable plugs direct into the EQ5 pro/EQ6 mount instead of the Synscan hand controller

This is different to the USB to serial you plug into the bottom of the handcontroller. For that I bought a Keyspan usb-serial adapter and it works well.

If you are looking for USB-Serial TTL try this guy:

You will need to change the plug on the end of the cable to suit your mount.

I have the Mod from EQdiect
think It goes where the hand set plugs in so I'v been shown

If you are using the shoestring EQDIR adapter you don't need serial TTL - just a USB to serial adapter - keyspan make a good one and there are plenty of belkin ones around also. Heres the Shoestring website - you should be able tyo find the instructions on there
