Moon Mosaic 10-4-06

I have to say I'm pretty chuffed with this mosaic. I think it's come together very nicely. I may play with the individual elements a bit more later but atm after a very light reg wavelet and put together with autostitch I'm happy.

Details:
35 images
Orion ED80
2X barlow and ToUcam.
Mostly full auto on exposure with only a tad manual adjustment when needed.
20 sec exposures at 10 fps, minimal processesing in Reg

Thanks Tony. Who says a full moon isn't good for anything. Well not quite full but close enough.

I've decided to have another go at it. It's a shame autostitch doesn't take bmps. This time when I convert them in PS I'll keep to highest quality and when I autostitch them I'll go 100% and no compression in the final image. That way I can control the final upload image better in PS.

Wow - 35 avi's to process into a single image, then 35 images to stack – great job and well done!

Does the commercial version of autostitch open bmp's? I use the free version and it seems to expire every 30 days or so, and can only open jpg's.

Cheers

Dennis

I haven't looked into it Dennis. It might be worth looking into, though it's hard to move away from the freebees.

I just delete it when it doesn't work anymore and reinstall it

Funny you should mention joins. I think a bit of PS cheatery is in order. If you have a look from Gassendi across to Billy near the terminator you will see a join. I only spotted it a few minutes ago. I'll fix it up later

They are still going strong Phil. We're studying the moon's formation, cratering etc, this fortnight Any excuse. I'm on holidays atm so I'm making hay while the sunshines (well moon shines actually). Besides when I was processing these I had the laptop humming away beside me with the course material on. And I still had a class last night. Good thing you pmed me about tonight so I can put it in my diary

Wife's feeling a bit neglected though

Actually I followed the link in one of his recent posts.
