Televue Genesis 100mm F5 Refractor

Reluctant sale offer - wife insists

Televue Genesis Refractor. Petzval 4-element Flourite. 500mm focal length, F5. An oldie (late 80s) but a goodie (very goodie).

I have been using for imaging with both SBIG ST2000, and Canon 20Da.

I have fitted a Moonlite focuser, with fine focus reduction gear, and focus lock. The Moonlite also allows the whole assembly to rotate.
It comes with the original TV rack and pinion focuser - since that is where the serial number resides.
Also included is the TV 2" diagonal (not sure if it is the Everbrite version - I can't tell the difference), and 1.25" high top adapter.
Also a 100mm long 2" tube with T-thread and Canon EOS adaptor.
Also the original Televue Clamshell mount. (Note the home-made Vixen adapter plate shown in pics is NOT included.)
Last and not least is the original Televue Carry Case.

As you should expect for a scope that has been well used for 20 years, there are a few paint scratches and other marks, but nothing that affects the optical performance.

Unlike my earlier Orion 80ED, there is no noticeable coma in the corners of pictures taken.

Reason for sale... need to make space for a Tak FS128! The wife wants me to make an effort to sell. (I'm not fussed about losing the Genesis)

Accordingly, my price is not flexible, I think its reasonably fair.

$2200..... buyer pays shipping. I'd prefer direct-deposit into my account.

Moonlight focusser

I have the very same scope, mine is from 1991, bought a few years ago with the same case as yours. I am keen on the moonlight focusser conversion but couldn't get definite data on which one for my exact scope model. Could you tell me the exact parts or mods you used?
Much appreciated in advance, Peter.

It seems a few people have the Genesis and are looking for a better focussing solution.
I dealt with Moonlite in the US directly. They offer to manufacture a flange to suit any OTA. They requested I send the TV focussing section over to them to ensure an appropriate adapter, since they didn't have a TV solution on the shelf, but the turn-around was so fast ( a couple of weeks) that I'm guessing one of their standard sizes does suit the Genesis tube.
I got the fine focus option with a focus lock screw as well. It has served te purpose flawlessly. An added bonus was that the flange allows the rest of the focuser to rotate, allowing ease of image rotation without releasing the camera from the drawtube. I also purchased the 2" extension tube, and can focus my Canon and SBIG cameras without need for diagonal. Cost was about uS$45 from memory.

And sorry again, to answer 1958van's real question it is a Moonlite CF2, custom flange, 4.5" drawtube with compression rings, tri-knob with shaft lock.

Flanges

I am another televue genesis owner very interested in this mod.

I have been onto Moonlite site and they now are listing flanges for the televue genesis and the genesis sdf.

This will probably save some time and you can still use the TV while waiting for the parts.

PS

Has there been any interest in the scope or has it all been for the mod
