Eris (2003 UB313) animation spanning 4 nights/mornings

Hello,

Here is an animation of Eris (2003 UB313) spanning 4 nights/mornings, from 19th to 22nd Sept. I had a couple of quick moving asteroids come through the field on 20th and 22nd and have identified them on their respective frames.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...Text Frame.gif (270K file size)

As I have to set up my gear each night, the ccd camera is not consistently orientated at a fixed position so there was some field rotation that I had to overcome, not to mentions bands of clouds, strong winds, tiredness and the light polluted skies of Brisbane. Nothing that a permanent observatory in the Atacama Desert would not fix!

Cheers

Dennis

PS – I hope the above link works. I just tried my first IIS ftp upload! If you are reading this, then I haven't broken the server.

Single, flattened image

Thanks David and Mike!

For those who find it difficult blinking at 1Hz to read all the text, here is a single, flattened image. Ain’t layers great eh!

Hello,

Thank you again for your words of encouragement. I have modified the animated gif based on a suggestion from a post reader, so that the last frame now contains all the text that identifies the objects of interest. The first 4 frames show the date in the top right hand corner. The 5th frame with the text dwells for 5 secs before the gif repeats so you get a chance to read the text. This has blown the file size to 270K.

Cheers

Thanks Ian - it's nice to be able to share one's work with the wider community of amateur astronomers.

Cheers

I like the change Dennis. You might even consider leaving that last from for a bit longer.
