Some DMK magic - conquering DSOs

With Saturn not playing the game I thought I'd have a go with my DMK on a couple of DSOs. Quite surprising really. Only Eta carina has had a bit of a curves stretch, the other two are hot out of Registax. No curves or processing applied. Shot through my 100mm celestron achromate with a 0.5X Mogg reducer.

1. Eta Carina. 25 @ 32 sec stacked in reg4
2. Omega Cent 21 @ 29 sect stacked in reg4
3 Sombrero Galaxy. 20 @ 55sec stacked in reg 4.

I've taken a couple of dark avi that I might apply to them later when I process them a bit more carefully in ImagesPlus. No flats unfortunately. Just thought I'd post the raw tiff.

Nice Paul. Makes you wonder why you didn't buy the bigger chipped model, and just use it for both DSO's, and Lunar/planetary??

Interested to try a bit of this myself Paul, now the DMK has arrived.

So, how do you do this?

For example, what does the 25 refer to, when you refer to 25 @ 32 secs for Eta?

Do you capture 25 AVIs, process them, take the final (TIFF?) product of each processed AVI and then stack and process those in Regi or PS?

Also, what settings did you use in IC Capture?

Many thanks

25 frame avi at 32 sec/frame. Run it through registax and there you are. If I get some time today I'm going to try the Eta one through Images Plus and see what happens.

Exposure = 32 sec, Gain set low to middle of the road. Y800. I was autoguiding using a DSI on the G11 through the 8" sct. It was a bit jumpy but I was only imaging at around 500mm and f/5

Great stuff.

Thanks Paul.

Must have a go at DSO. Would be silly not to when the cam's capable of long exposure
